Roland Yuno Rech

Born in 1944, Roland Rech graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris in 1966 then he passes the Master in clinical psychology. After three years of working in the industry, he went on a journey around the world and discovered zazen practice at Antaiji Temple in Kyoto. Touched by this experience, he decided in 1972 to follow the teaching of Master Deshimaru in Paris. He became his disciple and received the monk ordination in 1974.

While working in the industry, he helped his mission by becoming one of its translators in dealing with the coordination of dojos and editing his books, and leading sesshins. After the death of Master Deshimaru in 1982, he became president of the AZI, a position he held until 1994. He is currently vice president. In 1984 he received the shiho (Dharma transmission) from Master Niwa Zenji Renpo of the temple of Eiheiji.

In 1986 he participated in the founding of the Buddhist Union of France where he was vice president for 15 years.

He teaches at Temple Gyobutsuji of Nice, as well as for many sesshins in Europe. He transmitted the shiho to many of his disciples (see list below).

He is also vice-abbot of the temple of Gendronnière.

His teaching is published in books in the Yuno Kusen collection.
He also published Zen Monk In The West Albin Michel; Zen Enlightenment Daily Actes Sud, and an interview with E. Blatchen in issuing Names of God released in France by Desclée Brouwer.

Patrick Pargnien

Patrick PargnienPatrick Pargnien engaged zen in 1985. He received the bodhisattva precepts in 1990 and the monk ordination from Roland Rech in 1991. A group of practitioners gathered around him and in 2005 the Bordeaux Soto Zen dojo came into live, where Patrick still teaches. He also runs zazen days, conferences and workshops.

In 2002 the dojo became "Nuage et eau, centre de méditation zen" :

In 2001 he was asked to conduct sesshins abroad and since then he goes to France, Germany, Belgium and Spain.

He was president of the ABZE between 2008 and 2010

He received the shiho in 2010 by Roland Yuno Rech.



Heinz-Jurgen Metzger

HJM 2013practice zazen since 1985.

In 1987 he made the vows of the bodhisattvas.

In 1991 he was ordained monk by Master Roland Yuno Rech, which gave him shiho in 2010.

In 1996 Heinz-Jürgen Metzger was often a member of the spiritual leadership retreats in Auschwitz, founded by the American Zen Master Bernie Glassman.

In 2011 he also received the confirmation by Bernie Glassman.

Heinz-Jürgen Metzger is responsible for the spiritual education in the BuddhaWeg Sangha :

Sengyo van Leuven


Sengyo Van Leuven has been ordained monk by Master Roland Yuno Rech in 1992 and received the Dharma transmission from him in 2011.

Emanuela Dōsan Losi

Emanuela Dosan Losi


Emanuela Dōsan Losi, graduated in Geological Sciences at the University of Modena Studies (Italy), worked as part applied to buildings and landfills.

Nun ordained in 1994 by Roland Yuno Rech master, she was responsible for the Dojo Mokusho Torino for 10 years.

In 2012 she received the shiho of Master Roland Yuno Rech.

She is the President of the ABZE and teaches in Carpi (MO) as well as during the days of zazen and sesshin in Europe.



Pascal-Olivier Kyōsei Reynaud


Pascal-Olivier Kyōsei Reynaud Zen monk, disciple of Master Roland Yuno Rech, begins the practice of Zen meditation at the Dojo of Nice in 1984.

From 1989-1992 and 1989-2007, he was chairman of Zen dojo of Nice and from 1992 to 1997 of the Zen group Pélasque in the hinterland of Nice.

In 2007 he helped to create and is the president of Zen dojo of Montpellier until 2009.

From 2008 to 2010 he was the General Secretary of ABZE (Zen Buddhist Association of Europe) and until 2013 the president. He is currently vice chairman of the ABZE.

Pascal-Olivier Kyōsei Reynaud made the ceremony Hossen in February 2013 at GyobutsuJi in the presence Master Seido Suzuki, Master Yuno Rech and many Masters of AZI came for the occasion. He received in August 2013 in the Zen Temple of la Gendronnière, the Dharma transmission (shiho) of Master Roland Yuno Rech.

Until 2014 he is part of the shussos responsible for teaching at the Nice temple GyobutsuJi.

In 2014 he moved to the Aude county and became responsible for Zen teaching at the dojo of Narbonne city:

He regularly conducts in Europe days of zazen and sesshins and lectures / presentations on the practice and Soto Zen Buddhist teaching.

Michel Jigen Fabra


Michel Jigen Fabra was ordained monk by Master Roland Yuno Rech, he worked for 26 years in the technical services of a water distribution company.

In 2002, he created  the Carpentras Zen dojo and directed it for 7 years. In 2009, he went to the Zen temple of La Gendronnière where he served as shuso and ino for 5 years.

In August 2014 he received the transmission, the shiho, from Master Yuno Rech and left for three months in Japan to do an ango and the zuisé ceremony at Sojiji and Eiheiji.

He is currently in charge of the teaching at the dojo of Aix-en-Provence:



Konrad Kosan Maquestieau



Konrad Maquestieau discovered the practice of Zen in 1990.

During a sesshin in 1992 in Belgium, he met Roland Yuno Rech.

He received the Bodhisattva ordination in 1992 and was ordained monk in 1995.

In the winter 2010, he took part in the traditional ango organized by the Sotoshu Japan in Shogoji (prefecture of Kumamoto).

In the winter 2014, he renewed this experience in Toshoji (prefecture of Okayama), supervised by Seido Suzuki Roshi.

In the summer 2014, he did Hossen Shiki in La Gendronnière, supervised by the Abbot Raphaël Doko Triet.

In the summer 2015, he received the Shiho from Roland Yuno Rech in La Gendronnière.

He is the responsible of the “Shodo Dojo” from Halle in Belgium..


Claude É Mon Cannizzo

ClaudeCannizzowas born in France in 1955. After numerous years of practice and teaching of Martial Arts he studied the practice of Shiatsu. He is now a Shiatsu therapist, certified by the European Iokai School. He has been teaching Shiatsu since 1996 and since 2008 he started teaching his own Shiatsu style: the "Zan Shin Shiatsu", in the East of France. He discovered the Zen practice in 1980. After receiving the Bodhisattva ordination of in 1987, he created the Zen Dojo of Mulhouse. He was ordained monk in 1991 and is a close disciple of Master Roland Yuno Rech. In 2016, he received the Shiho from his Master. He teaches Dharma in the "Butsu Shin Zendo of Mulhouse" and is the leader of this dojo. He gives conferences and also organizes weekends in several European towns.
