Christian Gaudin is screenwriter, as well as cartoonist for comics and illustrated books.
First illustrator-graphic designer for the press, publishing, advertising and cartoons, Christian Gaudin became then independent publisher of comics, mangas and illustrated books for the Éditions Gilou, Alpen Publishers, Humanoids Associés, La Sirène, Kraken, Horizons Illimités, where he had the functions of publisher, artistic director and collection director.
In 1994, alongside his editorial activities, he started a prolific career as author, and since 2004 he devoted himself exclusively to his activities of humoristic author.
Published by the Editions du Relié, his famous collection of “Guides pour chats zen” has been translated in Japan, Germany, Spain, Russia and Ukraine, and edited in Paperbacks. This collection is regularly re-published.
Under his Buddhist name of “Kokon”, he draws and publishes gags on zen practice and zen spirituality. Under the name of “Master Banana”, he has been taking part to the activities of the Butsu Zen Zone (the Zen meditation stand of Japan Expo) for 10 years.
For this new exhibition, he brought back from his last stay in Japan 25 lovely decorative kakemonos, in order to present his last poetic-hilarious drawings. These are made in ink and Posca, on various traditional Chinese papers (Unryu, Xuan, Baipi and Heipi).
Christian will dedicate his “Guides pour chats” and his zen books (“La fin de vie zen”, “Textes de Roland Yuno Rech” and “Zen tweets”) at the private viewing of the exhibition and also during the conference on “Le rire zen” which will take place at the end of the exhibition.
